I finally got around to making a post about my current project. This is my MG Gouf Custom that I've been struggling with for the last several months. The level of detail that I started with may have been too much, but I am now committed so I have to carry out this degree of detail for the rest of the kit. The initial custom work is almost done. The legs and weapons remain.
The general themes of the build that I am going for are as follows:
- Add surface details; the clean armour on an older kit serves as a blank canvas
- Showcase the inner frame details typical of older kits using windows and meshes
- Add USB powered LEDs
For the backpack, I cut more windows and added fans that will be exposed after assembly.
The chest modifications consisted of more custom scribing and pla-plating. I also had some exhaust parts and hooks to spare for additional details. I filled the scribing mistakes with putty.
More scribing and pla-plating for the waist, focusing heavily on the front skirt armour. I prepared grooves for metal parts that I plan to attach. I cut out a space to fit diffusers for the side skirts (MS builder parts). I also covered the back skirt with pla-plate and more detail parts.
Close-up shot of the details. They should become more apparent once I have everything primed.
This was several months of WIP dumped into 1 post. More brief, detailed WIP posts on specific parts and pieces can be expected in the future.
Very impressive plaplate work, congrats ! I'm jealous of your radiators, I can never seem to get these to look right.
ReplyDeleteI have to see the finished product man. Don't tease me like this.
